Missouri UST Operator Training Regulations

In the February 17, 2015 issue of the Missouri Register (scroll to page 194 of this document), the state of Missouri formally adopted its UST operator training regulations.  The final and official rule appeared in the Code of State Regulations on February 28, 2015 and becomes effective 30 days after that date.  No changes were made to the proposed rule published in the Missouri Register on September 2, 2014, so the text remains the same.

Here are the important things to know.

  1. All UST operators in Missouri must be designated and trained no later than July 1, 2016.
  2. Class A/B operators in Missouri may be certified by one of the following methods:
    1. Obtaining Class A/B operator certification in one of Missouri's adjacent states, for example, through PASS' Illinois Class A/B operator training course offered in Missouri; or
    2. Taking and passing a test offered by the Petroleum Storage Tank Insurance Fund Board of Trustees.
  3. Class C operators in Missouri may be certified by one of the following methods:
    1. Obtaining Class C operator certification in one of Missouri's adjacent states, for example, through PASS' Illinois Class C operator training course offered in Missouri; or
    2. Being trained by a certified Class A/B operator; or
    3. Taking and passing a test offered by the Petroleum Storage Tank Insurance Fund Board of Trustees.

PASS' UST Class A/B and C operator training is approved in the state of Illinois, and we offer these courses for UST operators in Missouri.  Once you have passed one of these courses, you will receive an Illinois certification which will be valid in Missouri.
