Employee Spotlight: Jacob

Muncie, IN – Jacob has been working with PASS for almost six years now. He started as a monthly walkthrough visual inspector and helping field test the first version of PASS Tools. During those first three years, he went to conferences, seminars, and trade shows in addition to talking to owners and operators on site. This experience taught him where the pain points are in the system for owners/operators, particularly New Americans. He took this feedback and worked with the PASS Tools team to help improve our system.
He has spent the last three years working in the office, first as support for all products on our platform before eventually becoming the Tools Project manager. He has been the General Manager here at PASS for almost two years now.
This week we spoke with Jacob about his role at PASS and his hobbies outside of work.
What do you do?
I am HR and I help keep the team coordinated. I also supervise customer support and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
What do you like most about your job?
I like having variety in what I do daily, it keeps my brain sharp and makes for an enjoyable career.
What is something most people wouldn’t guess about you?
I love reading old plays or classic novels.
Why did you choose this job?
I watched a few other people try to tackle this career, and they got frustrated, couldn’t deliver, or had problems with technology. I knew I could gain knowledge and help more people across the country than I could as an inspector in Illinois.
How has PASS helped you in your career development?
Working for PASS has given me the ability to work with talented people, I learn and gain knowledge and confidence in our teamwork with each passing task. I also have learned valuable time management skills, and the ability to look at the bigger picture.
How has PASS Changed during your time here?
When I first joined the team, we only had the training platform and were about to launch PASS TOOLS. Watching this company grow with integrity and stay valiant in its mission of protecting the environment has made me proud.
What’s something you wish our customers knew?
Our support services are specialized and usually take time to investigate, if you leave a message we will get back to you in a timely manner.
What do you do when you aren’t working?
I love spending time with my daughter. As much as I know, she teaches me new things every day.
