Active Shooter Awareness Employee Training Course
Muncie, IN – PASS Training and Compliance and Fortress Preparedness Services have partnered together to offer a training program related to active shooter awareness, preparedness, and prevention.
The program has two course categories, one for all employees and another for management and business owners. These training courses are unique in putting the primary focus on prevention instead of reaction. However, the conclusion of each course also provides safety guidelines should an armed attack occur.
Active Shooter Awareness Manager Training Course
The employee training course focuses on preventative measures including recognizing credible threats, reporting threats to supervision, and operating procedures in the event of an attack. The management course is a comprehensive preparedness module that provides guidance regarding risk assessments, written plans, and drills and training exercises.

About Fortress Preparedness Services
Mr. Jay Dotson is the owner of Fortress Preparedness Services and the lead instructor for Workplace Violence/Active Shooter training. Jay is certified as an instructor through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, and the Center for Domestic Preparedness. He teaches defensive tactics, active shooter response, martial arts, the Incident Command System, and the National Incident Management System.
Mr. Dotson also is an awareness instructor in the following areas: improvised explosive devices, radiological improvised devices, weapons of mass destruction, and hazardous materials awareness.
His experiences include 25 years with the Muncie Police Department, 30 years at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital Security, and 10 years as the Ball Memorial Hospital Security Chief. He is a certified FBI hostage and crisis negotiator and an ILEA-certified basic SWAT operator.
