EPA Updates Operating and Maintaining Underground Storage Tank Systems
Following the updates to Musts for USTs, the EPA has revised Operating and Maintaining Underground Storage Tank Systems to incorporate the recently-released federal storage tank regulations. In addition to a more attractive layout and improved graphics, the new Operating and Maintaining Underground Storage Tank Systems includes:
- Updated requirements and deadlines in the "General Facility Information" checklist (page 4);
- A revised list of release detection methods allowed as of April 11, 2016 (page 5);
- Revised release detection system checklists (pages 11-25); and
- A rewritten Section 6 covering impending required walk-through inspections (pages 52-54).
UST operators planning to take an ICC exam should know that they can still use the July 1995 Musts for USTs and the September 2005 Operating and Maintaining Underground Storage Tank Systems if these publications are among their allowable reference materials. This will likely change within the next few months, and we will update you with new information as we get it.
