Looking Ahead : Walk-Through Inspection Requirement
I am sure by now that most of you are quite aware and maybe a little tired of hearing about the new regulations published in July. While no owners or operators are excited about more requirements, it is a necessary thing to discuss. The specific part of the new regulations that I would like to address is the requirement for walk-through inspections. The requirement for these inspections does not take effect until October 2018, but it is never too early to start thinking about how you are going to handle these new responsibilities.Fortunately for UST owners and operators, PASS has a solution. Using our inspection software, PASS Tools, you can complete your monthly and annual inspection requirements following the guidelines and recommended practices of PEI RP 900 - Recommended Practices for the Inspection and Maintenance of UST Systems. In its revised regulations, the EPA recommends the use of RP 900 in its entirety for these inspections. PASS is in the process of incorporating RP 900 inspection points and forms into PASS Tools, so using RP 900 to comply with inspection requirements will be much easier.Using a tablet or smartphone, our system walks you through step-by-step and has you input your facility inspection data. After you complete the inspection, our system automatically populates the proper forms for you to print out and keep in your records. We also keep historical records for you. So if you ever lose any documents you can always go in and retrieve another copy.If doing these walk-through inspections is something that you would just rather not do yourself and would like a third-party take care of, we can help you with that as well! With PASS Inspection Services, we have partnered with some leading service and maintenance companies across the country to provide UST system inspection and compliance assistance. If you would like more information about PASS Tools or PASS Inspection Services, please visit our website or contact us at contact@passtesting.com or (866) 735-0201.
