7G Environmental PECaNS Sharegroup 2015

Back on August 24, I had the opportunity to participate in 7G Environmental's Professionals of Environmental Compliance Network Southeast (PECANs) Sharegroup 2015. This share group consists of a number of different southeastern petroleum distributors, retailers, and vendors.Representatives from Franklin Fueling, Clemens Fuel Systems, ZeRust, Intellifuel, and MAS Environmental covered the gamut of compliance and equipment topics and how the recently published EPA rules will change the way we all do business. I was also fortunate enough to talk about the changes to operator training.In addition to all these great companies we also had the opportunity to have a Q&A with the heads of EPA Region 4 and regulators from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee.  All states reported that their respective implementation plans and timelines will mirror those defined new EPA rules, and nothing sooner.Franklin Fueling also demoed a very cool new flapper valve, called the Franklin Defender Series OPV. The valve is outfitted with a magnet that allows an inspector to stick an actuator into the tube and ensure that the flapper is operational. This is great for owners/operators who have been scratching their heads as to how to inspect this component on a monthly basis.  This component should make monthly inspection compliance much easier.Afterward we all trucked over to Turner Field for a Braves game, and while it wasn't the most attended ballgame I'd ever been to, it was still a lot of fun enjoying a beautiful evening and getting to know everyone a little better.
